Lowell Lybarger
Music/Multimedia Librarian
Lowell is the Music and Multimedia Librarian, serving as the Director of the Music Lab and Webmaster for the Music Lab Web site. Lowell catalogs music scores and music multimedia materials, provides general reference services, oversees the Library's multimedia collection development, and serves as the bibliographer for music, art, speech, theatre, and drama. He holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of Toronto, a Master in Library Science from Kent State University, an M.A. in Ethnomusicology from the University of Washington, and a B.A. in Anthropology from Rutgers.
Dr. Lybarger's dissertation research was supported by the Fulbright Program and the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, and he has presented numerous papers at academic conferences in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Lowell has taught courses in musicology, library instruction, information literacy, and music technology in Lahore, Pakistan as a UNESCO Consultant (2004), HEC visiting professor (2007) for the National College of Arts and Sanjan Nagar Institute of Philosophy and Arts, and worked as a technical consultant and archivist in 2006 for an NEH Preservation Project at Radio-Television Afghanistan in Kabul, Afghanistan. Lowell teaches World Music Culture at Tech and participated in a Rotary Exchange Program, studying libraries and music culture in Paraguay and Argentina in July 2008.
