Located in the north entrance lobby is a display honoring Ross Pendergraft. The Library is a tribute to his constant pursuit of knowledge and his lifelong desire to do things for others. To the right is the entrance to the Computer Services Offices.

At the Circulation Desk you may check out, return and renew library materials. Once you have completed a library application, your ATU ID card will serve as your library card. University faculty may place books, chapters, test examples, and other required reading materials "on reserve", for limited circulation. You may obtain these reserve items at the Circulation Desk. Loan periods are determined by the instructor. The Circulation Desk is also where you may inquire about library fines you may have accrued. The Circulation Desk phone number is (479) 964-0568.

The library subscribes to a number of databases. Some contain full-text of journal articles and others contain only bibliographic citations to articles. Databases may be accessed on campus from any computer with internet access. If you need to access databases from an off-campus location, you will need an ATU ID and password and some form of remote access to the ATU network. For more information, go to "How Do I...?" under the above "Library Information" tab.

Librarians and staff are available at the Reference Desk most of the hours the library is open. At the Reference Desk you may ask for assistance in utilizing electronic and print resources, including the library's online catalog, electronic databases, electronic indexes and online journals. At this desk are shelved the most current reference volumes referred to as "Ready Reference." In-depth, one-on-one, reference assistance is available. Print indexes and abstracts in the library collection are gateways to periodical literature published before the advent of computerization. Indexes provide coverage of articles in subject specific disciplines as well as general subject areas, and some newspapers. Please ask a staff member at the Reference Desk if you need assistance.

This collection contains general interest magazines, newspapers and scholarly journals. They are arranged in alphabetical order by title. Periodicals in this area are the most recent issues the library has received.

Self-service machines for reading and making copies are available. There are also 3 photocopiers for use in this room.

Network connections at the base of the study table lamps allow laptop access. There are also network connections by the tables that surround the perimeter of the room. In addition, if your laptop is equipped with a wireless card you may connect to the network via the wireless signal in the library.

Computer printing is tied to the logon process. Printing will not automatically happen; you must go to a PHAROS Print Station (located on floors 1, 2, or 3 of the Library) and login using your Tech eID (stu#) and your password. Once you are logged in, you may select print jobs to be printed or deleted. Print jobs will remain in the system for 24 hours before they are automatically deleted. If you use more than your 200 free computer prints in one semester, you must purchase a VendaCard. VendaCard machines are located adjacent to the network printing stations. For hard copy printing, you must purchase a VendaCard.

In the Music Lab patrons have access to the most significant music software programs in the country. The lab also provides CD, VHS, DVD, LP multimedia titles and equipment that support the curricular goals of the university. These titles may be found by searching the library's online catalog.

These rooms are available on a first come, first serve basis. They are of various sizes which seat from 2 to 12 people.

The east side of the second floor is the location of the bookstacks or "stacks". The books here are shelved according to the Dewey Decimal system in call number order. Guide cards, at the end of each aisle, indicate which range of call numbers is located in each aisle. The collection consists of subject materials that support the curriculum of the University. Also found here is an extensive collection of children's books supporting the Education Department's curriculum. These books are designated as "Youth" in the call number.

This method of shelving and storage provides greater storage capacity without compromising usability and physical space. The shelves move or "compact". In this collection are older issues of magazines, scholarly journals and legal research materials, as well as U.S. Government Documents, Arkansas Documents and music scores. Some of the periodicals are bound together in one or more years per volume. Binding periodicals protects them from wear and tear that damage unbound journals. Only periodicals that are at least one year old are bound.

The Library is a partial depository of U.S. Government Documents. This is a collection of materials published by the Federal Government. They include Congressional hearings, departmental publications, atlases, periodicals, labor statistics, U.S. Census materials and other numerous items. Some documents are available online via government websites. Assistance is available at the Reference Desk.

This help desk is designed to assist patrons with their computer needs.

This area has thirty computers for student and faculty use.

Tech’s Distance Learning Classrooms are equipped for two-way delivery of instruction. Each classroom has 30 computers with an instructor’s console suitable for interactive and multimedia learning. Classrooms also contain video overhead projection, TV projection, cable TV, VCR, DVD, SmartBoard TableTop, Elmo Document Camera, and special software for different classes.

The room RPL 300 A/B (right) is a large conference room with a capacity of 150 seated with tables, which may be divided in half by a mechanical wall to accommodate smaller groups. This room is equipped for teleconferencing, satellite downlinks and large screen projection for a variety of media.
